DESHEVELED CORNER

The other day my cousin pointed out that whenever I take photos in Lebanon, I choose a destructed area, showing off the worst of the country. Well, it's these corners of Lebanon that I love. They have character and history that I refuse to forget, even as trash fills the area. (Seriously, the trash problem is real.)

When I was younger, I used to walk to my grandmother's house and take these stairs every day. I lost count of how many times I've fallen on them, and how many tears I shed.  The room to the left used to be magical to me. It was my haven when we'd play hide-and-seek, and provided me with countless victories. Just above this area, my cousins are building new homes, where I know their children will play as we used to.

Riches or ruins, this is a place that I love.

XOXO S.
